What Are You Committed To?

When you really decide it means you cut off all other options. It means you make a commitment that is unwavering to get things done. When you commit at that level, I have watched as miracles have happened. Whether it be in business, athletics, marriage, as parents, or with health issues, I believe that when you commit fully, providence begins to kick in. William Hutchinson Murray said, “Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is but one elementary truth … that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the

A Powerful Word

Last week I had a chance to be part of a special retreat with my friend Kevin Hall, the author of Aspire. (https://www.powerofwords.net) Kevin’s book has become a definite top ten, and I would recommend it for everyone. It is about words, and it is full of tremendous insight and experiences that will help you in business and in life. At the event, I met a man named Pravin Chikouri, who flew in from Vienna. Pravin and Kevin met almost by chance many years ago as their two paths crossed in a fabric store that Pravin owns. As they talked

Finding Purpose in Work

This morning I spoke to about 75 business owners and executives in Utah. They are all part of a networking company that seeks to build business through fostering stronger relationships. The subject they asked me to speak on was employee engagement. That may be an unfamiliar term, but employee engagement is the measure of those people that are willing to go the extra mile for a project or a coworker. It represents those that apply extra effort even when no one is watching because they take pride in their work and their organization. On the level of heart and soul,

Watch This Video

I wanted to post a video that will open your mind to new possibilities. Last week I took a group of people to a private resort for a leadership retreat. The resort is in Boulder City, Nevada and it was built by a friend of mine named Craig. Craig is a wildly successful entrepreneur and as I have gotten to know him the thing I have come to understand is that he places no limitations on what is possible in his life. You will understand when you see what he has built. Pirates Cove is a private residence with 5

Passion – Push Through The Pain

I am sure there is a goal that you are passionate about. Something that you are pursuing with all of your heart. What is it? Is it your business? The relationship of your dreams?  Weight loss? Most people think that passion is just enthusiasm for what you are doing, and it is that, but there is more to it. Even though you focus on what what you love, it does not mean it is always going to be without challenge. The word passion originated in the 12th Century, originally used by Christian Scholars who were describing the suffering of Christ.

Change Your Thinking

For the majority of people in the world, success is viewed as luck, or being at the right place at the right time. They never take into consideration that you also need to be the right person at the right place at the right time. To most, success is usually determined by external circumstances. But true success is only created internally. Author Sterling W Sill once said, “One of the greatest paradoxes of life is that almost everyone wants to improve his circumstances, but almost no one wants to improve himself. And yet our personal preparation is the key to

A great easter message!

This is a great story, that made me stop and think and touched my heart. I hope it does the same for you. The Rich Family I’ll never forget Easter 1946. I was fourteen, my little sister, Ocy, was twelve and my older sister, Darlene, was sixteen. We lived at home with our mother, and the four of us knew what it was to do without. My dad had died five years before, leaving Mom with no money and seven school-aged kids to raise. By 1946, my older sisters were married and my brothers had left home. A month before

What Were You Born To Be?

Many years ago I heard the story of the son of King Louis XVI of France. King Louis had been taken from his throne and imprisoned. Those who dethroned the king took his young son, the prince. They thought that inasmuch as the king’s son was heir to the throne, if they could destroy him morally, he would never realize the great and grand destiny that life had bestowed upon him. They took him to a community far away, and there they exposed the lad to every filthy and vile thing that life could offer. They exposed him to foods

Live in Deep Water

The message below was shared by Mitt Romney – many of you know he has been a extremely successful businessman, a governor, and ran for President last year. I thought this was some great advice. Enjoy! I don’t remember when it was exactly that I finally went past the sandbar. My family had a summer cottage on the shores of one of the Great Lakes. For the first forty or so feet, the lake is shallow, warm, and protected from big waves by the sandbar. That’s where I spent most of the hot summer days as a boy. I liked

How Do You Define Success?

To the world success means money, power, or fame. The dictionary even defines it as the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence. That is the way that I defined it for most of my life. To me, success always had a lot to do with the house I lived in, the car I drove and the clothes I wore. Then a few years ago, I began to understand a new definition of success. On April 4th 2006 my daughter Andie was born. She was our first child and like all first time parents the anticipation, anxiety, and excitement was unbearable.
